Corrosion behavior of galvanic couple between aluminum alloy and carbon steel with accelerated corrosion tests

نویسندگان

چکیده

We investigated the galvanic corrosion behavior of aluminum alloy in contact with carbon steel during accelerated testing by evaluating current and morphology coupled specimen. Electrochemical polarization curve was acquired before after testing, only detected for dissolution. Aluminum next to more severely corroded than remote aluminum. Corrosion also observed steel, although its dissolution not detected. Galvanic found be dependent on duration exposure water chemical composition alloy. The affected connected metal environment which it exposed, but distance from metal, ion concentration metal.

Is galvanic corrosion between titanium alloy and stainless steel spinal implants a clinical concern?

BACKGROUND CONTEXT Surgeons are hesitant to mix components made of differing metal classes for fear of galvanic corrosion complications. However, in vitro studies have failed to show a significant potential for galvanic corrosion between titanium and stainless steel, the two primary metallic alloys used for spinal implants. Galvanic corrosion resulting from metal mixing has not been described i...

Investigation of Corrosion Behavior and Galvanic Corrosion Simulation of Super Duplex Stainless Steel UNS S32750 Weld Zone

Galvanic corrosion is an ever-present problem in all different environments, particularly in tanks. The goal of this project is to develop a finite element model that can be used with experimental data to characterize the corrosion of a galvanic weldments couple in an electrolyte. In this study sample are welded by gas tungsten arc welding and friction stir welding. According to ASTM G8, Evalua...

Corrosion Behavior of Tin-Plated Carbon Steel and Aluminum in NaCl Solutions Using Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy

The corrosion behavior of both tin-plated carbon steel and aluminum (Al 1100) in NaCl solutions were studied using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The study objectives were to compare their corrosion behavior in concentrated brine solution, establish the equivalent electrical circuit diagrams of their corrosion phenomena, and consequently develop steady-state corrosion models for ...

Galvanic Corrosion Behavior of Dental Alloys

There is a wide variety of dental alloys, ranging from nearly pure gold and conventional gold-based alloys to alloys based on silver, palladium, nickel, cobalt, iron, titanium, tin, and other metals (Table 1). The types of dental alloys have increased significantly since 1980s in order to change the market price of gold and palladium. Although gold alloys are the mate‐ rials of choice in this a...
